WordPress plugins ARE awesome

This is a very quick post, just to say that WordPress plugins are awesome.

Plugins are extra pieces of functionality which are literally plugged in to existing software. Here’s an analogy: imagine if you buy a beaten up old Vauxhall Viva (I’m giving my age away, now) and then go to Halfords and buy an aerofoil to attach to the car’s rear to help it go faster…right, well that’s kind of like a plugin.

I’ve been using plugins to achieve functions which clients have requested for their websites:

• Members Only section
• Podcasting
• RSS and/or Atom feeds
• XML Sitemap
• Google Analytics

The range of plugins for the WordPress platform is one of the biggest features in its favour.
