TED: awesome video resource
TED.
If you’re interested in innovation and creativity in ideas, design, business, culture – any aspect of life – then you should check out TED.
TED is a small nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then its scope has become ever broader.
I’ve been ploughing through the videos there for the past two years now, and I’ve learned a tremendous amount from some of them. Here are three of my favourites:
- Rory Sutherland: Life lessons from an ad man
- William Kamkwamba: How I harnessed the wind
- Julia Sweeney has “The Talk”
You may not have heard of any of these people, but other presenters include: Tony Blair, Al Gore and Bill Gates. You may have heard of them.
There are other similar sites which offer similar presentations, but TED seems to be the biggest and slickest in terms of production.
